A picturesque wooded hilltop is the site for this residence in Kildeer, Illinois. To preserve the many mature trees on the site, attention was paid to the position of the home on the site. The approach from the street elegantly curves to reveal the traditional brick facade. There is a formal courtyard for receiving guests. The massing and detailing are reminiscent of country homes in France. Generously spaced rooms are arranged around the two story entry. There is also an octagon shaped reading room. The second floor has five bedrooms and quarters for staff. The basement has a walkout with a deck that enjoys views looking down the hillside. This project exemplifies the finest in estate living.
